Cozy Climate
The most common complaint about life in Houston our summertime heat and humidity, but there is definitely an upside that goes with it: If you hate winter weather, you’ll love Houston! Records show that it has snowed in Houston about 35 times since 1895! When it does snow, it’s a gentle dusting. When relocating to Houston, you can leave your snow shovel behind! Ice storms do happen here—about once every ten years! In between, we have winter temperatures in the 50s and 60s, springtimes in the 70s and 80s, 60s to 80s in the fall, and summers—well, we hope you like it hot!
Amazing Food
Houston is the perfect storm for amazing food. Of course there’s classic Texas barbeque, and that wonderful cultural blend known as Tex-Mex. We’ve also got authentic 100% Mexican food. You may be surprised, though, to find out that not all of our recent immigrants are from just south of the border. Houston has a thriving southeast Asian community, and many of those folks run restaurants with delicious offerings. Our proximity to the Gulf of Mexico also gives Houston access to great seafood and a lot of Cajun spice. Music, Theater and Arts
We’ve told you about the art museums of Houston’s amazing museum district, and offered you a free look at just a few of the city’s many live theater and dance companies. Houston is also home to great up-and-coming musicians—we’re particularly known for our rap and blues artists. Whatever your tastes, life in Houston is brilliant, day or night.
